Prof. Dr. Sevil Atasoy

Born in 1949, Turkish national. Professor of Biochemistry and Forensic Science at Üsküdar University, serving as Vice-Rector, Director of the Institute of Addiction and Forensic Sciences, and Head of the Department of Forensic Science. Previously directed the Institute of Forensic Science at Istanbul University (1988-2010) and the Ministry of Justice's Department of Narcotics and Toxicology (1980-1993). Holds B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in Chemistry/Biochemistry from Istanbul University. Author of over 130 scientific publications and supervisor of more than 50 graduate theses in biochemistry and forensic science.
Has held research appointments at leading institutions in the United States, Germany, Austria, and India. Founder and leader of several professional forensic science organizations and member of numerous international scientific societies.
Member of the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) since 2005 (with a second term beginning in 2017). Has served as Chair of several INCB committees and as President of the Board in 2009 and 2025.

The Program
The Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science is a four-year undergraduate program, taught in English, designed to educate the next generation of forensic scientists through a rigorous, science-based curriculum.
Students begin with a strong foundation in biology, chemistry and the natural sciences before progressing to specialized courses in crime scene investigation, forensic biology, DNA analysis, forensic chemistry, toxicology, trace evidence, digital forensics and scientific reporting. Throughout the program, classroom learning is integrated with laboratory practice, case-based teaching and practical exercises that develop both technical competence and critical thinking.
